Bloodlands is back, more than a year after season one finished with a shocking revelation around serial killer Goliath. The Northern Irish drama was commissioned for a second outing shortly after the first series was done and dusted with and suspense has been building for the new episodes ever since. Thankfully, it’s almost time for Bloodlands to return, picking up from where it left off in 2021.
Who stars in Bloodlands season 2 episode 1 cast?
DCI Tom Brannick – James Nesbitt
Season one of Bloodlands saw fans discover that DCI Tom Brannick was Goliath all along.
He explained that he had been blackmailed into killing by David Cory (played by Ian McElhinney) who had kidnapped his wife Emma.
But when she no longer wanted to be with him upon her return, Tom killed David out of frustration and told Emma to use her intelligence skillset to disappear for good.
Actor James Nesbitt has been in a number of popular dramas throughout his long-standing career, including The Missing, Stay Close, Suspect, Line of Duty and Lucky Man.
Some fans will best know him as Adam Williams in the 1990s comedy-drama Cold Feet.
Olivia Foyle – Victoria Smurfit
Olivia is the widow of a crooked accountant whose murder threatens to expose Tom’s identity as Goliath.
She starts to work with Tom to try and solve the riddle her husband left behind and they slowly become more immersed in the puzzle of one another.
Actress Victoria Smurfit is best known for playing Orla O’Connell in the BBC series Ballykissangel.
Her other roles have included Cruella de Vil in Once Upon a Time and DCI Roisin Connor in ITV drama Trial and Retribution.
DS Niamh McGovern – Charlene McKenna
DS Niamh McGovern is Tom’s police partner who is with him every step of the way as he tries to conceal his secret past.
Fans will recognise actress Charlene McKenna for her portrayal of Jennifer in Pure Mule, alongside Eileen Walsh, Tom Murphy and Dawn Bradfield.
Some of her other credits have been in Single-Handed, Raw and Whistleblower.

DCS Jackie Twomey – Lorcan Cranitch
Jackie is Tom’s boss who also worked with him on the Goliath case back in the 1990s.
He has been in the force for four decades but doesn’t think Tom should be dredging up the past when he has got new cases to contend with.
Lorcan Cranitch has been in ITV’s Cracker, Shackleton, Hornblower, Spooks, The Bill and Waking the Dead.
He is currently working on a film called Lakelands, a drama about a footballer getting attacked on a night out.
Izzy Brannick – Lola Petticrew
Izzy Brannick is the daughter of Tom Brannick who is studying medicine at Queen’s University.
Actress Lola Petticrew has been in My Left Nut, Dating Amber and Anne Boleyn.
Bloodlands season 2 premieres on Sunday, September 18, at 9pm on BBC One.
