Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) made a critical mistake in EastEnders as she attacked loan shark Shiv.

After a difficult day which left her worried that Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) was coercing wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal) into sleeping with him, Eve returned home to find Shiv threatening Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).

Stacey borrowed money from Shiv several weeks ago, as she struggled to cope during the cost of living crisis.

Since then, she has been doing everything she can to pay him back, though he keeps demanding more.

After taking Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) to her baby scan, Stacey found Shiv eating ice cream in their kitchen, having let himself in.

Things escalated, and Shiv wrapped his hand around Stacey’s throat, just as Eve arrived.

Concerned and furious, Eve launched into action, pulling him off her and slamming him into the counter, telling him to pick on someone his own size.

While Stacey begged her to let him go, Eve reiterated that Stacey needed more time to get his money and that she was sick of men taking what they want.

Furious Shiv was not happy, and, thanks to Eve’s outburst, demanded that Stacey pay all of the money back by the following day.

Terrified Stacey raged at Eve for interfering, and lamented over how she was going to find £3000 in 24 hours.

Eve stormed off, collapsing into tears on the stairs, while Stacey cried over a baby scan photo in the kitchen.
