Strictly’s Zara McDermott ‘powering through’ as she shares details of injury

Zara McDermott discusses her injuries from dancing

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Zara McDermott has revealed she’s powering through after suffering from foot injuries.

The former Love Island star appeared on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show on Friday morning to detail how she’s feeling ahead of her grand debut.

This Saturday, viewers will get to see 15 celebrities taking part matched into their professional partners for the competition.

Speaking ahead of the show, which was pre-recorded earlier this month, Lorraine asked Zara: “How are the feet?”

She replied: “Feet are in a bit of a bad way at the moment, I’m not going to lie to you.

“But, you’ve just got to power through!”

This week the 26-year-old took to social media to show her 1.7 million followers some of the injuries she’s inflicted since rehearsing.

Snapping the backs of her feet, it appeared as though the star had two burst blisters on her heels that looked sore.

Captioning the image alongside a cry-laughing and strong arm emoji, she wrote: “No pain, no gain!”

Although the official pairing will be revealed on Saturday night with the show pre-recorded, Zara had nothing but good things to say about her professional partner.

Lorraine said: “I don’t want to ask you about your celebrity partner, other than, is he gorgeous?”

She replied: “He is amazing! He’s so nice, the training is tougher than I thought it would be.

“It’s all about the technicalities, it’s the arms, the legs, the feet. All those things that you have to put together in your head all at once.

“But, it’s an amazing experience.”

However, one professional in the Strictly family fans can rule out as being Zara’s partner is Neil Jones as it’s been reported he’s been snubbed once again.

Despite being on the show since 2016, the dancer has only competed on the main show twice.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One on Saturday 16th September at 6:25pm.
