Zara McDermott says ‘guardian angel’ gran ‘willing me to win’ Strictly

The ex-Love Island contestant, now a revenge porn campaigner and documentary maker, said: “She would have been over the moon. I remember watching the first series when I was seven with my nan. We would replicate the dances in the living room.

“She’s sadly passed away now. I feel like she’s looking down on me. She’s my little guardian angel, watching and being proud.”

Zara, 26, is one of seven celebs among the 15 joining Strictly who say they have no dance experience – along with Paralympian Jody Cundy, soap actors Adam Thomas and Bobby Brazier, comic Eddie Kadi, newsman Krishnan Guru-Murthy and radio presenter Nikita Kanda.
