This Morning penalty shoot-out
This Morning’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary returned to the ITV daytime show on Friday but viewers were left annoyed with the “nonsense” World Cup predictions segment.
Kicking off the show, Alison and Dermot looked back at the quirky ways they have seen predictions done for England winning the world cup.
From a psychic pig to an alpaca who didn’t believe in England, the show has seen some wacky predictions over the years.
During the latest instalment, two of the show’s production team came out dressed as a lion to represent the Lionesses and a bird to represent team Haiti.
The way they were going to predict the outcome came in the form of a penalty shootout between the pair.

After scoring one goal, it was the bird and Haiti who came out on top with Alison worried the predictions could come true.
However, viewers were left annoyed at the early segment of the show after it was taken off the air yesterday.

@fordy1952 noted: “Scraping the barrel now for content! #ThisMorning.” (sic)
However, not all viewers were unimpressed with the segment as @PollyDolly praised: “What a fab and energetic way to the show! Loved it, come on Lionesses.”
The show was off-air on Thursday morning alongside Loose Women due to the Australia vs Republic of Ireland match.
Due to the major time difference Down Under, the majority of matches will be shown in the morning UK time.
Next week, This Morning will only be off the air on Monday, 24 July, returning for full episodes with Dermot and Alison throughout the rest of the week.
Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and Loose Women are the main shows which are set to be affected by the schedule shakeup.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
