Violent EastEnders exit for corrupt Keeble as she is shot

DCI Keeble’s (Alison Newman) reign of terror came to a thunderous end in EastEnders after she ended up getting shot amid a heated altercation with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), who she previously had kidnapped.

The corrupt detective, as viewers know, is keen to make Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) pay for his crimes against her family, after a flashback episode revealed that his dad murdered her own during a robbery in the 70s.

Knowing how much family loyalty means to Phil, Keeble forced him to corroborate claims that his own cousin Billy (Perry Fenwick) was to blame for her father’s demise.

Billy was innocent of the crime – though he had procured the firearm used in the shooting, which was enough for Keeble to want revenge.

But with Phil having acquired the upper hand with some help from old enemy Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), Keeble was livid and resorted to kidnapping earlier this week, taking Kat and Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) hostage.

Kat tried to apprehend gun-toting Keeble, but a shot was fired, with Thursday’s (January 5) edition of the BBC One soap confirming that it was Keeble who took the bullet.

Phil, who had found Kat and Tommy’s location with Keanu and Sam’s (Kim Medcalf) help, promised to get dying Keeble medical intervention if she made a call to her star witness, telling them to pull out of the trial, which would inevitably make Billy’s case fall apart.

Keeble refused, commenting that she would rather die, but Phil pleaded with her, telling her not to die in a disused warehouse like her dad did all those years ago.

The hard-man’s words hit home and Keeble made the call, before Keanu took her to the hospital, where she was treated for her wounds, telling her colleagues that she didn’t know who shot her, bringing this case to a close.

Billy, meanwhile, returned home, much to the joy of his loved ones, as he shared a special moment with those he cares for the most.

EastEnders continues Monday January 9 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
