Why is Good Morning Britain cancelled? ITV show replaced in schedule shake-up

Good Morning Britain will not air today in an ITV schedule shake-up, as the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 will be shown instead.

This Morning and Lorraine will air as usual, after the former was absent from yesterday's schedule.

The Women's World Cup will see the Filipino and Swedish teams go head to head, with the match airing from 6am until 8, where it will be followed by an episode of The Chase, before ITV's schedule returns to normal with Lorraine at 9am.

It comes after regular host Susanna Reid paid her farewells to viewers as she left for her extended summer break.

It's yet to be announced who will take over, but her fellow GMB hosts Ben Shepherd and Kate Garraway could take a more prominent role during the summer holidays.

Susanna's departure comes after her fellow ITV star Holly Willoughby also headed off on her summer break. However, she did so without saying her usual goodbye.

In previous years, Holly and former co-star Phillip Schofield had always announced they were taking their holiday together before giving a friendly sign-off.

But Holly has been under fire since the scandal surrounding former co-host Phillip broke. He left the programme in May and later admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague.

On her quietly slipping away for her summer break, with her since seen on holiday in Portugal, one online commentator said: “That seems like a strange strategy – unless she isn’t coming back.”

Another added: “It’s a bit rude to say nothing. I suspect she won’t be back – she will find another opportunity over the summer months.”

And a source exclusively told OK! that Holly is poised to think about her "future" but her children and husband, who sadly lost his mother Sandra recently, are her priority.

“She appreciates her family more than ever right now and she’s planning to take the summer to be a full-time mum," the insider revealed.

"The last couple of months have been really stressful and it’s highlighted for her the importance of family.

“She and Dan are closer than ever – he provided her with so much support following Phillip’s departure, and she was able to be there for him after his mother died," the source continued.

"It sounds strange, but the devastating year they’ve had has brought their family together. She will be thinking about the future and making sure her family is her priority," they added.
