Moving somewhere, Boris? Boxes marked ‘Carrie’s baby books’ and a mobile phone are left in PM’s litter-strewn car parked near his Camberwell home as he prepares to leave No10

Boxes marked ‘Carrie’s baby books’ and a mobile phone have been spotted in Boris Johnson’s litter-strewn car near his Camberwell home as he prepares to leave Number 10 with his wife within weeks.

Pictures show the Prime Minister’s grotty 27-year-old green Toyota Previa GX rammed full of bags, baskets and containers marked up with their contents.

The non-ULEZ compliant banger has clearly seen better days, with a torn plastic bag, a bottle, an empty food container and a creased-up cap seen discarded on the filthy floor alongside a single workout weight.

Mr Johnson, 58, has a long history with the notoriously temperamental motor, and in 2019 was pictured trying to change a tyre while lying in a puddle in a desperate attempt to rescue a romantic evening out with Carrie.

That same year he was spotted dumping 70 pages of Parliamentary notes – including his thoughts on Brexit – into a petrol station bin.

Anyone wanting to still drive the vehicle will have to stump up £12.50 a day in ULEZ fees to use it on top of the £15 to £17.50 congestion charge for driving in central London.

The outgoing Prime Minister will be leaving his role next month and has started started house-hunting for a new marital home in Dulwich Village, south London, with wife Carrie, 34, and the couple’s two children, Wilf and Romy.

Their house in Camberwell is now listed for sale for £1.6million, £400,000 more than they paid for it.

Not short of cash, the couple’s reported budget of £3million should be more than sufficient, as properties in leafy Dulwich Village have sold £1,820,887 on average in the past year, according to Zoopla.

The couple bought the four-bedroom Victorian semi in Camberwell in July 2019 as Mr Johnson became Prime Minister. They made the purchase after having to leave their flat nearby when neighbours called the police after reports of explosive rows.

However, the Johnsons have spent no time in the property after moving into Downing Street. The couple stand to make about £400,000 if they get the asking price for the house, bought for £1.2million.

They made thousands of pounds from letting the property during their time in Westminster. The register of MPs’ interests says the Prime Minister enjoyed a rental income of at least £10,000 a year.

A source told The Sun: ‘Carrie and Boris are looking for somewhere they can put down roots away from the glare of central London.

‘Now they have Wilfred and Romy, a family home with a large garden is a must. That’s exactly what Dulwich can offer.

‘The irony that he wanted to emulate Churchill but ended up following Thatcher’s footsteps in how he ended his premiership isn’t lost on colleagues.’

Margaret Thatcher moved to Dulwich Village after being ousted in 1990, buying a house with her husband Dennis for £400,000.

However the Iron Lady lasted just a year in the village before moving back to a more central location in London.

Dulwich’s Labour MP Helen Hayes may have something to say about Mr Johnson’s planned move.

The Shadow Minister for Children & Early Years berated the Prime Minister in a piece for Southwark News, she said: ‘Although he was a former Mayor of London and a current London MP, since becoming Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s actions have taken a distinctly anti-London turn.

‘He and his Conservative ministers have cut funding to our schools and local councils, cut Universal Credit for families on lower incomes and left us with huge NHS waiting lists.’
