Man dies in horror caravan fire as cops launch probe into ‘unexplained’ tragedy | The Sun

A MAN has died in a horrific caravan blaze and cops have launched an investigation into his "unexplained" death.

Thames Valley Police were called to the caravan in Witney just before 4.30p.m on Thursday, February, 16.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled the inferno just off the A4095 Woodstock Road but tragically a man in his 60s died at the scene.

Detective Inspector Pete Scott, said: “Formal identification has not yet taken place, and work is ongoing to notify next of kin.

“I would appeal to anybody who was in the area and may have witnessed this to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police, either by reporting online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43230072790.

“We would be particularly keen to hear from any drivers who may have passed the bus stop close to the Harvest Way junction with the A4095 between 2.45pm and 4.30pm to please check dash-cam, and also anybody who may have been walking in fields adjacent to the A4095 between the same times."

Thames Valley Police have also urged potential witnesses seen observing fire crews, including several adults and children on scooters, to come forward.

Detective Inspector Pete Scott continued: “I’d also appeal directly to the driver of a white flatbed truck towing a horse box, which stopped on the road opposite the farm.

“The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained, and although there currently does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, we will be keeping an open mind as to the cause while the investigation continues.”

There are currently road closures enforced in the area while the investigation continues.
