Russia’s frontline trenches ‘like Vegas’ as ‘bored’ troops turn to class As

Bored and disillusioned Russian troops are succumbing to rampant drugs and booze in ther hopeless 'Las Vegas-like' trenches on the fronlines of Putin's bloody war.

The latest intelligence report by the British Ministry of Defence outlines that up to 15% of Putin's army in Ukraine are drugged up, and the likes of amphetamines and cannabis were allegedly easy to obtain among the troops.

Russian language news outlet Vertska made the claim, which was verified on Monday (November 13) by the British Ministry of Defence.

"These reports are credible and follow numerous reports since the invasion of a high rate of disciplinary incidents, crimes and deaths related to alcohol abuse amongst the Russian force," the ministry wrote in its report, shared on X.

"Russian commanders likely frequently punish drug and alcohol abusers by posting them to Storm-Z assault detachments, which have effectively become penal units," the ministry continued.

"One of the core drivers of poor Russian discipline and substance abuse likely remains the continued lack of opportunity for combat troops to rotate away from the front line."

In Vertska's own research in October, they interviewed Russian soldiers, one of whom said his comrades turned to drugs "out of boredom." Another fighter said "it's like in Las Vegas."

We previously reported on the findings, which also claimed that there is even a secret code among those in the trenches hoping to acquire "gunpowder", shorthand for amphetamine, as well as "pinecones", which for those in occupied Ukrainian dugouts, means marijuana.

Substances used by bored soldiers are delivered by unsuspecting messengers bringing equipment to the trenches. Deliveries of the drugs offers up a decent pay, with some runners bagging £1,700 a month.

Since the start of the conflict last February there have been claimed, and ample evidence, of Russian soldiers being inebriated whilst on duty.

We reported last month how some troops will be transferred to a 'suicide squad' position for being drunk. Instead of their usual combat squad, they will instead be deployed as part of "Storm Z", an "expendable" collection of troops.

Boozy troops or those being belligerent with top brass could also be transferred on the orders of a fed up Putin.

The Insider reported in August that soldiers based in a training camp in Mulino behaved so appallingly that locals asked the Nizhny Novgorod governor to enforce a “dry law,” and keep the military hooligans from leaving their bases.

That came after reports that drunk troops burned a church down and cut off a taxi driver's finger.
