Rhod Gilbert says cancer diagnosis ‘p****d him off’
Rhod Gilbert has given an update on his battle with cancer, admitting that he “never would have imagined this day”, while confirming he is “completely back and fine”.
Speaking to Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, the comedian spoke about his new documentary A Pain in the Neck.
It comes after Rhod was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in his head and neck 18 months ago.
The Welsh comedian has since undergone radiotherapy, chemotherapy and initial surgery, which he has documented in his new Channel 4 show.
Speaking to Zoe, he shared: “Look at me now and listen to me, I’ve got a few niggly symptoms I’ll probably always carry.

“But I would never have imagined this day would be here – that I’d be sitting here, my voice is normal.
“My energy levels are pretty much normal. But I’m completely back and fine. And hopefully that’ll give people comfort and hope.”
Last year, Rhod announced that he had stage four cancer after doctors found the disease in his neck and head during a biopsy.
The 52-year-old comedian is best known for appearing on panel shows such as Mock The Week and Would I Lie To You?.
His documentary, A Pain in the Neck, details his cancer journey and shows the brutal reality of chemotherapy.

BBC Radio 2 shared a clip of Rhod’s interview with Zoe on Instagram, and many followers couldn’t help but react to the emotional story.
One fan said: “I watched Rhod’s documentary. It was tough to watch him go through what he did, but a truthful watch. I’d like to thank him for that. I wish you well Rhod for all you do.”
A second person commented: “His documentary was so raw and emotional but what a wonderful ending.”
