HALLOWEEN is the one time of year when you don't mind if your kids are little devils or monsters – in terms of appearance, at least.
Dressing up is lots of fun for all ages, and your kids' costume choices can really say a lot about their personality, too.
From spooky spiders, ghoulish ghosts and cackling witches – there are so many different styles to choose from.
Here, Behaviour Psychotherapist Dipti Tait reveals the subconscious significance behind your child's Halloween costume decision…
Bewitching
If your child opts to dress up as a witch or a wizard, it can mean they're thoughtful and possess a lot of emotional depth.
Dipti says: "They're deep, imaginative thinkers who like to make things happen.

"They are also often quiet reflectors with an enquiring mind.
"They enjoy magic, card games, quizzes and tricks."
Skeleton in the closet
If they have chosen to dress up as a skeleton, that can suggest they're confidently curious.
Dipti says: "Technically minded, a child who opts to be a skeleton likes to understand how things work, and will ask a lot of questions.

"Curious and Clever, they enjoy science, experiments, and practical tasks."
White as a sheet
The old sheet with eye holes is a simple yet effective outfit, and can allow a child who is a little nervous to participate in the fun while being 'invisible'.
Dipti says: "This outfit is often for shy and quiet types, who like to be involved but do not enjoy being centre of attention.
"They tend to enjoy reading, writing and crafts."
Hey gourd-geous!
We all love carving pumpkins, but what about dressing as one?
This is a costume not for the faint-hearted, and requires confidence to pull off.
Dipti says: "Theatrical, these kids enjoy being centre of attention.
"They're bright and bouncy, with a cheerful disposition.
"They have creative minds, enjoy performance, music and dance."
To infinity and beyond
Not all halloween outfits have to be spooky, of course.
If they opt for a super hero costume it could suggest a bold,adventurous side.
Dipti says: "Super heroes are generally loud and high energy.
"They're fast paced, easily distracted and like to show off.
"They may enjoy sport, competitions and being outdoors."
Little monster
A devil or monster outfit may, at times, feel particularly apt.
Dipti says: "This is an outfit for little ones who don't like being told what to do.
"They don't feel the need to fit in or conform, and may get bored easily.
"They need stimulation and enjoy strategic gaming."
Don't spend a scary sum
Remember, whatever they wear, it doesn't have to cost a fortune, and there are plenty of ways to dress up with out spending a scary sum.
For example, buying secondhand is a great option, or you can make your own costume.
