‘I was sacked when working from home went wrong – but have made comeback’

A woman fired while working from home has found a new way to support herself.

Suzie Cheikho, 38, was sacked from her 18-year stint at Insurance Australia Group (IAG) in February.

Her boss had been monitoring her keystroke activity – and found she was only typing 10 words an hour between October and December last year.

Reportedly, she lost her job for missing deadlines and meetings, being absent and uncontactable, and failing to complete a task that led to the company being fined.

But after moaning she "couldn't get a f***ing job" after her story went viral, she's made a comeback.

Suzie has resorted to "TikTok" to support herself.

Some have given her virtual gifts, which can be converted to cash.

And she's making more money by staging "TikTok battles" with other content creators.

Yesterday, told her followers on the platform that there will be a "reset battle" between her and another influencer on Monday at 7pm.

"All your support will be appreciated," the caption read, adding multiple hashtags, including one that read "I stand with Suzie".

Suzie, who found fame on social media after her story hit headlines, also uses TikTok to hit back at her critics.

She recently posted: "This is a message for all the haters out there.

"If you don't like what I do but you watch everything I am doing, you're still a fan."

She also added a reminder in the caption: "Stand up for what you believe in, always stay true to yourself even when the odds aren't in your favour, opinions don't pay my bills."

Previously, Suzie also revealed she'd turned to Centrelink payments to have enough to live on.

“I make a small percentage of money off TikTok — just enough to cover my bills,” she explained.

“It’s all to do with my mental health, you see. I’m an advocate because of the mental health issues I have suffered, so I raise awareness by talking about it on ‘lives’.”

After being fired, Suzie took her case to the Fair Work Commission.

The tribunal sided with the company though, saying they had a "valid reason" to fire her.
