Andi Peters started as one of the original members of the BBC Broom Cupboard as he made a name for himself in the world of broadcasting.

He was best known for his banter with Edd the Duck and was also familiar to viewers when he appeared in his trademark waistcoats which cemented his 90’s legacy.

Alongside the likes of Phillip Schofield, he was one of the biggest names on CBBC, however he left Live and Kicking in 1996, and seemed to disappear for a while after.

Andi even credits a strange exchange with Phillip Schofield, 61, for having started his whole TV career.

He previously said in an interview: “I wrote to Phillip saying that I'd like to be a presenter. I got a signed picture back, which I sent back with a note saying that I didn't ask for a signed picture, I wanted advice on how to become a Children's BBC presenter

"Phillip then wrote on the back of the signed picture and sent it back saying 'get some local radio or hospital radio experience, and I'm sure you'll make it one day.' And he was right!"

Andi’s first ever job in the industry was a gig in the Oxford Street Topman, where he was part of their in-store radio.

This led to the first continuity job where he would link in-between shows on ITV, where he was soon noticed by executives at the BBC.

He was signed to the corporation in 1989 where he was assigned to the Broom Cupboard alongside Edd The Duck.

The personality then moved to a new Saturday morning show Live and Kicking in 1993, but after his three year stint alongside Emma Forbes, 55 came to an end, he went in a new direction.

He decided to trade in the hosting gig to go behind the camera at LWT where he built up his experience.

Whilst Andi later joined Channel 4 where he became the architect for the concept of T4 where he launched the careers of huge household names including Dermot O’Leary, Vernon Kay and Rick Edwards.

He also handpicked the cast of Shipwrecked, one of the first ever reality TV shows.

In an interview, he was asked if he was still in touch with anyone from that era of TV, to which he replied:

“Ben Shephard works on the same show as me. I still talk to Dermot O’Leary, Margherita Taylor, June Sarpong, Vernon.

"There’s a generation of people who grew up with T4 so it’s interesting when people come up and say it meant a lot to them. Yesterday a girl came up to me in a coffee shop and said she was in the first series of Shipwrecked and I cast her. Jeff Brazier was in Shipwrecked and he still works in TV."

In 2003, he returned to the BBC to run some of its top music and lifestyle programmes that were aimed at younger viewers, which included Top Of The Pops and coverage of Glastonbury.

However he left the job two years later as figures for the music show dwindled after it moved down to BBC Two.

Although he insisted that his departure was because of his passion to get back in front of the camera to host BBC One's City Hospital

He previously told the Metro: "[Presenting is] my passion. I started out as a presenter and without that I wouldn’t have been able to produce anything.

"And unlike producing, you don’t have to take the work home with you. Once you’ve done the show, it’s done. When you’re producing, you’re sometimes managing big teams and that never stops. I thought I’d go through a phase of presenting for a while."

Andi’s career has since gone from strength to strength as he’s narrated The Big Reunion and is a regular on ITV’s breakfast offering as he travels the world to host competitions for Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, he's earned a reported net worth of £4 Million.

He also has side gigs where he works as a rugby agent and even owns a fitness modelling agency.

Away from the cameras the star is usually incredibly secretive about his private life and he doesn't really reveal much, however he recently revealed that he is happily single on an episode of Loose Men.

Speaking about going on lad's holidays with the group of men, it was during this discussion where the 52-year-old veteran TV star revealed his relationship status for the first time.

"See, I'm single, so I just go by myself," he said candidly.

The audience proceeded to say "awwww" before Andi butted in with: "Please don't feel sorry for me!

"It's through choice," he went on, before adding: "I'm really stingy."

"I only have to buy a drink for myself and nobody else," he added while the audience roared with laughter.

"I quite enjoy just going by myself, just being completely in control, I don't have to ask anyone's permission," he concluded.

Although, it has not been all smooth sailing in the world of showbiz, especially with his stint on the first ever series of Dancing On Ice as he later revealed that he didn't get on with his professional skating partner Tamara Sharp.

In January 2006, the duo were the second pairing to be eliminated from the competition after the judges saved Stefan Booth, where on the programme he exclaimed: "It has been such hard work but so much fun."

Before their time came to an end, the couple received an overall score of 11.0 from the judges.

Although Andi only appeared on the hit ITV show for a short period of time, it seems that there is still some bad blood between himself and Tamara 14 years later as Andi took the opportunity to share that they never really got along.

While discussing Denise Van Outen's skate partner Matt Evers during an episode of Lorraine, Andi said: "The partnership is really important as I said. Me and my partner bizarrely all those years ago, we didn’t really get on.

"She used to refer to me to Torvill and Dean as 'him,'" he explained.

Sharing insight into their feud further, he went on: "We’d all be on the ice and she would say to Torvill and Dean, 'Tell him, he needs to…' and I was like 'I am here!' but I would be stood at the side eating a chocolate bar."

He added: "My partner wasn’t great."

Professional skater Tamara only appeared in the first series of Dancing on Ice and never made a return to the show.
