Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has shared some exciting news with fans.

The Italian dancer has taken to Instagram to announce that he has something "very special" lined up.

He logged into his social media account on Monday (August 21) to tease that he's been working on secret TV project.

Giovanni wrote: "And that’s a wrap .. the last 3 weeks away filming something very special and I can’t wait to share it all with you ! Now back to London and ready to put my dance shoes back on …@bbcstrictlyhere I come!"

Alongside his message, he posted two snaps of himself surrounded by camera crew dressed in a cream blazer and grey trousers.

Unsurprisingly, his latest Instagram grid update caught the attention of his 1million followers, with some rushing to leave a message for the star in the comment section.

One fan penned: "Exciting!!!! Bring the sun back with you please."

Another added: "Yes, missed you Gio, was wondering if you would make it back in time – excited to see what you've been filming."

A third person gushed: "Can't wait Giovanni – you are joy to watch can't wait to see on Strictly."

While a fourth social media user said: "Welcome back, We’ve missed you! Looking forward to what’s coming."

It comes after Giovanni was forced to pull out of some of his latest live shows as part of his tour with Strictly co-star Anton Du Beke.

He recently twisted his ankle and doctors have since advised the Italian star to take a few weeks off.

Giovanni's injury meant that Anton was left to dance solo as part of the pair's live tour, Him & Me.

However, his latest post confirms he will be back on the dancefloor when the series returns next month with a whole new bunch of celebrity contestants.

Rumours of who Giovanni will be partnered up with have been swirling as fans spotted he's only following two famous faces taking part in the 2023 season.

The dancer is following confirmed contestants Amanda Abbingdon and Zara McDermott on Instagram.

A total of 15 contestants have been confirmed, but Giovanni is Strictly following two female contestants so far.

Fans will have to wait and see who Giovanni gets paired with.
