My Mum, Your Dad’s Janey on ‘tragic’ dating history amid Roger romance

My Mum, Your Dad star Janey Smith opened up on her “tragic” dating history prior to taking part in the hit ITV show and finding love with Roger Hawes.

Speaking about her dating history, the singer and recruitment manager said her son William would call it "tragic", but she would call it "varied".

The hit ITV show, which was fronted by Davina McCall, aimed to connect single parents together in the hope of finding love – all while under the watchful eye of their grown-up children. Janey, who was one of the success stories from the show, said she had “matured” since she was younger and the kind of person she used to go for, “is not right” for her now.

Janey revealed she had tried a number of ways to find her perfect match before going on the show. She said: “I’ve been set up with friends in the past, I’ve had blind dates, I’ve been on every internet dating site. I did all the apps, I’ve exhausted them all.”

“I remember my first ever online date – about 18 years ago from the website My Single Friend. We’d obviously never met but he knew I loved ABBA, so had booked to see Mamma Mia! the Musical in the West End and dinner for a first date. Sadly no chemistry but blimey 10/10 for effort!!”.

Speaking about her perfect match, she said: “It sounds cliché but it’s not about the looks and material things, it’s so irrelevant. Now I’m looking for a best friend that I fancy!”

It looks like she finally found her perfect match as viewers watched her build a relationship with fellow singletonRoger Hawes.

Roger took to social media on Saturday, 23 September, to confirm that the pair were still "going strong".

Alongside a picture of the happy couple posing on a sandy beach with big smiles, Roger said: "It’s been hard to keep it a secret but the wait is finally over – me and the beautiful @janeybombshell are still going strong and have never been better since."

He sweetly added: "We couldn’t be happier together and it wouldn’t be possible without @itv."

Janey also confirmed the news on her own Instagram, writing: "What an amazing journey… Saturday mornings just got a whole lot better."

Overjoyed fans took to the comments to shower the pair with congratulations. One said: "I have never been happier for two strangers in my whole life!", while another said: “This is the news we been waiting for so happy for you both”.
