Strictly star suffers painful injury throwing show into chaos ahead of launch

Amanda Abbington has shared a new injury update ahead of her upcoming Strictly Come Dancing debut.

The BBC's Sherlock star, 51, revealed she was forced to sit out of a photoshoot with her pro Strictly dance partner as she was unable to put her shoes on due to painful blisters on her feet on Thursday.

The actress, who is set to star in the celeb line-up of the latest series of the popular dance competition which is due to return to TV screens on September 16, was advised to rest her painful-looking feet.

Amanda opened up about her "torture shoes" which caused her blisters during rehearsals in a candid chat with her Instagram followers.

In a video posted online, Amanda showed her fans the extremely large, raw blisters on the bottoms of her feet.

She said: "I was supposed to have a photoshoot today with my dance partner. I'm so sorry, I have apologised to them.

"I couldn't get my shoes on and I had to speak to a professional person about my blisters and I have to rest them for at least 24 hours. Because look [Amanda turns the camera to her feet]."

She continued: "Sorry that's probably really gory, if you're a bit squeamish I'm really sorry that was right in your face. That's one of them. I was bandaged earlier.

"I put my dance shoes on for a significant period of time and then didn't wear socks because I'm a t*** of the highest order. So I have to sit in."

In a previous update, Amanda explained how her feet ended up so injured ahead of her Strictly debut. It comes as Strictly professional dancers starred in an exciting launch trailer ahead of the show's first episode.

She revealed that the two blood blisters on the soles of her feet "burst" after wearing the "torture shoes" throughout rehearsals but then she had to put her trainers on.

The TV star tried blister plasters and an ice bath before seeking help.

The British actress, who has starred in a range of popular TV shows such as Sherlock and Mr Selfridge, was one of the first stars to be revealed for this year's Strictly line-up.

One person who will be sure to cheer her on throughout her Strictly journey is her fiancé former stuntman Jonathan Goodwin, who famously competed in both Britain’s Got Talent and it’s American counterpart America’s Got Talent as an escapologist.

An online spoiler account recently seemingly leaked this year's celebrity and pro dancer pairings.
