A British tourist who admitted trying to gat a Majorcan hotel worker to perform a sex act on him has avoided prison.

The 27-year-old man, who has not been named, is understood to have made the indecent proposal after knocking on random doors when he returned to the hotel in the resort of Puerto de Alcudia following a drunken night out.

He then took hold of the victim’s wrists when she opened her door to his knocking, before telling her to ‘go down, go down’ as he pulled his trousers down.

The victim, said to be a hotel entertainer, fled the scene and alerted authorities before the man was arrested on Friday when officers looked at CCTV footage from the site. The hotel has not been named.

A hotel cleaner also told police she had been asked for sex by the same tourist, who was dressed only in a pair of shorts and flip flops at the time.

The Brit, who appeared in court later the same day, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment after admitting to an offence of coercion as part of a plea bargain deal, local newspaper Ultima Hora reports.

The sentence is understood to have been automatically suspended as part of the agreement.

The incident took place at a hotel in the resort of Puerto de Alcudia (pictured) following a drunken night out

It came the same day as Spain’s ‘only yes means yes’ law came into force. The legislation was drafted following the country’s wolf pack’ gang rape case in which an 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by men at Pamplona’s world-famous San Fermin festival in 2016.

The incident sparked anger and protests against sexual assault laws in Spain

Under the new law consent must be affirmative and cannot be assumed to have been given by default or silence.

It also means the crime of sexual abuse no longer exists and all cases are now considered sexual assault.

The incident comes days after another British man was arrested after touching up a female holidaymaker sat next to him on a Ryanair flight from Liverpool to Majorca.

Spanish police arrested the man after they were contacted by the hotel worker and reviewed CCTV footage

Air stewards radioed police from 35,000ft after the woman, who is also British, complained he had touched her breasts and asked her to have sex with him in the toilet.

The 35-year-old man was held when the plane touched down at Palma Airport late on Sunday.

The unnamed Brit was reportedly fined £2,500 after being hauled to court yesterday for a speedy trial.
