  • The speed limit on the road was 70mph while most scooters only go 8mph
  • The woman has attracted praised on social media after video went viral

This is the moment a woman travelled along a 70mph dual carriageway during rush hour on her mobility scooter.

The woman made her way down the V7 Saxon Street through Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire as cars passed her by.

The maximum speed for most mobility scooters is 8mph, although they have a 4mph maximum speed limit on pavement.

Footage of the woman’s preferred method of transport was shared on social media and met with significant praise.

‘I want to be her,’ one woman said.

‘This lady is a legend,’ another added.

One person said she often sees the same woman travelling the route and urged her family to remind her of the dangers of the road.

Musician Tony Hill shared the footage, which was taken on October 13 from above the road on a footbridge overlooking cars below.

The woman appeared to make a left turn at the Eaglestone Roundabout onto the H7 Chaffron Way.

Cars travelling behind the woman were quick to move into the right hand lane to overtake her.

Others pointed out the Redway system in Milton Keynes is designed to offer safe passage for pedestrians, cyclists and people using mobility devices.

But the law states class 3 mobility scooters are in fact permitted to travel on certain roads, including dual carriageways.

The Gov.UK website stipulates a mobility scooter must use an amber flashing light for visibility.

It must also have an efficient braking system, front and rear reflectors, direction indicators, an audible horn and a rear-view mirror.
